The similarities between the bird and Doodle in "The Scarlet Ibis":

The physicality of Doodle and the bird are frequently compared. They are both small and fragile , "His little legs, bent sharply at the knees, had never before seemed so fragile, so thin.”

Freedome and mobility are also issues: the bird had trouble flying while Doodle had trouble walking.

Both die on the same day and in a similar way.

The colour red also represents both of them. The bird's feathers are red and the blood on Doodle, at the end, is red.
