The Scarlet Ibis

The narrators companies his brothers given name to a "big tail on a small kite." What does this simile tell you about the narrator's opinion of his brother's name?

In the packet I have the quotation pointed sentence is on lines # 32-33

They named him William Armstrong, which is like tying a big tail on a small kite. Such a name sounds good only on a tombstone.”

From the above quote, we can infer that the narrator found Doodle's given name inappropriate for such a small, weak boy. This quote also serves to foreshadow Doodle's death.
