How does the boy feel about his fatherʼs action?

The boy's empathy and caring nature has been evident from the beginning. This is one of the reason the father continuously asks if he will be ready when the time comes..... if he'll be able to defend himself when faced with death. The man avoids his son's questions because he understands them, it's easier to say he isn't sure than to suggest that he has killed another man.
