The Road

Section 15 pages 180-195 q 3

In the mans flashback, he recalls a time when they had slept in an abandond pharmacy, and that the expensive electronic equipment had not been touched on the shelves. Why do you think it had not been taken by people? What does that suggest about the catastrophe that ended the world?

This suggests the catastrophe was not gradual rather than instantaneous. The disaster suggests the shock of nuclear war where people would be unable to loot stores.
