The Rime of the Ancient Mariner

The ancient mariner and the water-snakes

The ancient mariner, in a dangerous moment, was impressed by the water-snakes. But was his attraction to the water-snake sourced from his love for natural creatures? The mariner was in hell when there was nothing. But water-snakes, though look ugly and slimy, impressed the ancient mariner. It was not from her hurt but it was from her situation.

Why the poet used so many odd numbers in this poem?

Why did the poet use so many odd numbers in this poem?

i m just preparing for PGT so i need d best knowledge

Hello all I am new to this poem and site and will be reading this poem quite a bit the next few weeks or so and will be adding my two cents. Donnie/Sinbad

I write poetry or at least try, To me on this first READ of Mr. Coolrigde's poem

"The Rime of the {The} Ancient Mainer"

I have many thoughts, I have read some others thoughts both old and those here. And I see some lights brighter then others.

First on this first read of the "Ancient Mainer" I see the Mainer as a Captain of a ship his ship. at times a Lost Soul and at other moments The fallen "Lucifer"

The "albatross" as a guiding light or angel at time Christ Himself

The poem itself is a mirrored reflection of the complete Story of the the Bibles version of why and how we are. Is my opinion

The "Wedding Guest" although Singular I feel Implies the Whole Of Creation

The Mans closest "Kin" To me is a reference to God

The other mariners spoken of are Holy men or preachers priest Prophets ect.

1st verse

It is an ancient Mariner,

And he stoppeth one of three.

"By thy long grey beard and glittering eye,

Now wherefore stopp'st thou me?

The break down of what is in ones minds eyes is never easy. but who is this poet? what is he about and what has he done?

The word IT, what it? what is implied By It a small word But it implies a specific Thing Yes or no?

To me This is a definite reference to The Cheribum Lucifer

From the Bible if you have read the Bible for as long and as Often As he or I you may or may not be able to see this parallel. Eg. Lucifer was In Charge of A ship One Of Three 3/3 rds of Heaven

and he stoppeth one from what did he stoppeth the wedding In Bible refeneces the wedding is the marriage of The Christ and The human Race lost or the whole of creation GOD's Church.

[By thy long grey bread and thy glittering eye.]

{From the wisdom and your desire }

[Now wherefore stopp'st thou me?]

{ What do you want or from with me?}

verse 2 part I

"The Bridegroom's doors are opened wide,

{All the halls of Heaven are Opened wide}

And I am next of kin;

{and I AM their or HIS next to kin}

I am from the Book of Moses and the story of

I AM is GOD speaking from the fiery brush unconsumed, I AM sent You and You are in my stead. Jesus or Emanuele GOD with Us, reference the only Begotten ONE. Note: their are many who oppose why train of thought and quite often.

The guests are met, the feast is set:

{ Salvation is complete, Your Judgment is Ney }

May'st hear the merry din."

{ Do you hear their holy praise }

And let us not forget this verse is in Quotes

But, who is Speaking? In my opinion it is GOD in the Father spirit listening to Satan last plea.

Now Let Me step Back to the Title of the poem

" The Rime of the Ancient Mariner "

When I first listed the title you see I Cap and place another The in it Why you may or may not ask did he do this or that.

well I did this to place a thought into your mind or to activate one a subtle, but precise thought.

In my opinion it should of been Capped but I have not made a study of the time in or the Period or the place, that this poet was in, when he wrote it, and published it to be read.

"The" a person, place, or thing? a Noun or Pronoun? A specific Somebody in this write I believe. The Ancient Mariner The One who Sailed away from the Fleet. or lost favor with is A reference to the or those of them that sail with "him" the two hundred others

or in the Bible Seven Thousand.

A person trying to break any one poets poem down and a part could spend a life time Trying.

This is why I read and re-read the Good Book as I do. Right now I have and am on a long leave from the reading of The Good Book but this poem has re-sparked a need to re-read it again.

Verse 3 part I

He holds him with his skinny hand,

"There was a ship," quoth he.

"Hold off! unhand me, grey-beard loon!"

Eftsoons his hand dropt he.

Now when I read this verse i see two quotes and two speakers Satan and God

The First Satan

He holds him with his skinny hand,

He who Holds Him Who with his skinny hand

Remember I see GOD as the Farther Spirit so far

{He is Satan the Mariner who is Holding onto Gods Arm) with his skinny hand A reference of Power and Might or Gods Power vs Satan's

God the Al Mighty being paused by a fallen one or given time too one of His children

Now Satan has GOD's Full attention he proceeds to say and I quote.

"There was a ship," quoth he.

Period complete stop. Why? I believe

Satan is Ready his program of lies and

twisting s

Next line.

Quote " Hold off! exclamation point a show of authority is ! the exclamation point

unhand me, grey beard loon! "

{Let ME go you wise Fool !} exclamation point

Eftsoons his hand dropt he.

Immediately his hand removed HE

Instantly GOD removed Satan's Hand

I believe this to be the case. By the structure of the line, most important is the period

and that was That .or that is that Period or even as far as, Amen

Donnie/Sinbad the Sailor Man

verse 4 part I

He holds him with his glittering eye-

The Wedding-Guest stood still,

And listens like a three years child:

The Mariner hath his will.

I am going to leave this here and see I f any will Follow My lead if so I will continue to unfold this sheet TTFN

Donnie/Sinbad the Sailor Man

verse 4 Part I

He holds him with his glittering eye-

{He who Satan holds him (him who) GOD with his glittering eye- Satan's desire}

Why? It's been a long time since he, Satan has spoke to God with desire

And listens like a three years child:

Every try to hold a three year olds attention ?

This is the amount God is giving to Satan and his same old story.

The Mariner hath his will.

Remember the (:) a connector and The Capped M so THE should of been the but it is not to Show The one and only Mariner the Fallen Lucifer hath his will. is has gotten his way. and let us not make light of the period Amen or That is That

verse 5 part I

The Wedding-Guest sat on a stone:

He cannot chuse but hear;

And thus spake on that ancient man,

The bright-eyed Mariner.

The Wedding-Guest sat on a stone:

The Lord GOD was Firm or on solid ground(:)

He he who GOD can not [chuse]

a misspelled choose some writers do this to shorten the line or to hint at different words or well know words of a different languages hucse, chuse, the soundings of shh

The mind doesn't need correct or complete spellings to pick up common meanings these poets knew this.

but hear; (;) is a pause and a connector

And thus spake on that ancient man

and so spoke continually "That Ancient Man"

Satan did not pause in the telling of this his story

"that ancient man", is a reference to a specific Time period in the Bible were The Saints are belittling the Fallen Lucifer before he is sent into hell for One Thousand years "is this the man" the one who would be GOD.

The bright-eyed Mariner.

The wise Ole Cherubim or the morning star

Aka, a Title Satan likes to use,instead of Satan he has many, many Refer too names in the Bible and in Ligature and History

verse 6 Part I

The ship was cheered, the harbour cleared,

Merrily did we drop

Below the kirk, below the hill,

Below the light-house top.

I need a little rest and some food.

Do you see what I see can you see ? This is a very amazing poem Donnie/Sinbad the Sailor Man

Verse 6 Part

Okay I am still tired, but here it goes!

The ship was cheered, the harbour cleared,

We were all happy and content, there was none to stop, or the way was made straight,

Merrily did we drop

Unknowingly we did sink or Happily I did ere

(with a an impaction of blame on Father also)

Because of the WE. ie. its was your fault for leaving me in Charge while you were off doing your thing. Father's thing is Creating.

Verse 6 Part I

Beneath the Church,

a kick is a Church

The Church is a reference to the betroth or the Bride, or /and the body of this bride.

Christ's Chosen /Elect people,or follows make up this body of The Church.

below the hill,

Now take the full phrase and reverse the thought pattern

Below the kirk, below the hill, Below the light-house top.

Below the light-house top, below the hill, Below the kirk.

The Three level tire in Heaven. Is God the Father and Christ The Son as the The Light-House top, The 24 Elders of Heaven as the hill, below the hill,

The whole of Heaven's community, its people the Church Below the kirk.

Satan was the covering Cherubim the Cherubim that covereth the Mercy Seat ,The protector of repentance or Forgiveness then. The Forgiveness of trespasses then before Sin before Time! Before Lucifer's Fall and God renaming him Satan! well I told you Sinbad is a very Religious Zealot. Donnie
