The Red Badge of Courage

Red Badge of courage and Maggie

"Maggie: A girl of the streets" Is a Novella and one of Stephen's Crane's first published works in 1893, showcasing a grim reality of urban New York during the industrial age through the eyes of young and naive Maggie who unfortunately ends up on the steets in severe poverty eventually leading to her short lived death.

Considering that this novella was published two years before Crane's more well known novel, The Red Badge of Courage, how would you compare Crane's writing style and themes in both stories?
