in what way has Henry become something of a bore

I'm not sure what you mean. For the most part, Henry appears to be exhausted and exasperated. He's angry at his situation, and even angrier that the enemy keeps after them..... and the fact that the energy never seems to tire. As for boring, I don't see that in this chapter, unless it has something to do with Henry's desire to recuperate.
