In chapt. 3 , Why is running to his 1st battle a good thing for the young soldier? How would it be worse if he had to sit and think about it?

Henry does what his instincts tell him to do. The battle is a whirlwind of death. Few if any men were getting out alive. Henry was inexperienced and terrified. If he had stayed he would have died.
