If it were true that Henry changed his soul by changing himself, what change allowed Henry to move from turmoil to tranquility?

The understanding that the battle was indeed over and he could think in retrospect about his past and look clearly into the future with some thought of how his past would inform his future. Except for his first run from the battle, he is proud of his past and knows that he has been a good person.
