Henry does not have a specific vision of fear yet. He is still confused between the stories he has heard and the bravado of some of the soldiers' talk. Henry sees shadows in the forest. He describes them as "monsters" but he is not fearful rather than filled with anticipation. Henry's most vivid description of fear does not really come until the second skirmish when he runs away.
