The Narrator
The narrator, presumably the voice of Atwood herself, is present in four of the five poems. In "Helen of Troy Does Countertop Dancing," which is the fourth poem, the narrator is Helen of Troy herself instead of Atwood.
The Audience
The audience, which is the "you" that Atwood's narrator and Helen of Troy address in the five poems is able to be interpreted as both the reader and a specific person the narrator is addressing. In many cases, it seems like Atwood's narrator is talking to a lover or a child while simultaneously addressing the audience.
Helen of Troy
Helen of Troy is the daughter of Zeus and Leda. In Greek myths, she was considered the most beautiful woman in the world, and her kidnapping started the Trojan war.
