Dorian Gray In Other Media
The Portrait of Dorian Gray has only grown in popularity throughout the 20th century. As a testament to this fact, there have been several notable film and stage adaptations of the book, as well as comic books featuring the character of Dorian. This picture shows the cover of the 1945 movie version, adapted from the novel and directed by Albert Lewin. It is faithful to the original work in many respects, but deviates mainly in its inclusion of an original character named Gladys Hallward, the niece of Basil Hallward, who becomes Dorian's primary love interest.
The character of Dorian Gray made its most recent cinematic appearance in 2003's The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.
