What are glory days? In what way do we learn more about the concept of “glory days”?

Glory days are the times your most proud of, you fondest memories, a time when your dreams all lay in the future, and you saw yourself as invincible. In the novel, Charlie mentions that his father once had glory days, but Charlie also mentions that possibly his withdrawal is causing him to miss his own.
