We open with Charlie discussing how his best friend died over the Summer, between middle school and Freshman year. How does the school staff handle this situation? What could they have done differently?

The guidance staff asks so many questions that they upset Charlie further. We might infer that they could simply ask the students to share their feelings, rather than questioning the students about Michael.
