Charlie went shopping with his mom and sister, but he didn't know what to buy his dad for Christmas. Fortunately, he found a videocassette of the last episode of M*A*S*H and decided to buy it: his dad really enjoyed this gift. I think this shows that Charlie understands his dad's emotional disposition and temperament. A particular type of person really enjoys MASH.
