In what way does Charlie stand out from the crowd?

Charlie stands out in every way because he's so concerned with remaining unnoticed. Charlie is shy, unpopular, and awkward. He doesn't think like his peers, thus, he doesn't act like his peers. On the flip side, he's agressive when back into a corner or bullied.
