What scene does Charlie watch unfold in the mall? What conclusions does he glean from it?
Charlie watched a little boy who had been separated from his mother; an older kid, who looked tough, approached the little boy and took him to the security desk, where he was reunited with his tearful mother. The mother thanked the older kid, who bluntly reproached her. Then the little kid simply asked for French Fries. The scene makes Charlie think about the difficulties of parenthood, how appearances can be deceiving, how sometimes it's better not to know things, and how simple joys (like eating French Fries with your mom) aren't enough to make everyone okay anymore.
