what was the doctors reaction when he first heard of Kino's pearl?

He dismissed his patient and claimed that Kino's son was now his patient most in need. THe doctor imagined Paris and drinking fine wine. He thought that he could swindle money from Kino (or even steal the Pearl) to make this happen.
