The Pearl

What kind of action drives the plot of the story? Is there a main conflict or is there more than one?

The main driver of the plot is Kino's discovery of the pearl. The pearl changes everything for Kino and his family. Kino's social dynamics and socialequilibrium that had been set for hundreds of years had been altered. Kino has a pearl that is worth more than any villager could make in a lifetime. Greed and obsession for the pearl drives the action, violence, panic, and hope throughout the story. Kino wants to profit from his pearl but so do many unscrupulous men who have power over Kino.
