what does kino say this second time in response to Juanas statement they should get rid of the pearl because it brings evil? what is implied in his answer?

Kino says;

"Hush," he said fiercely. "I am a man. Hush." And she was silent, for his voice was command. "Let us sleep a little," he said. "In the first light we will start. You are not afraid to go with me?"

His answer implies that Juana is to obey him as her husband. He isn't asking, he is commanding. Lastly, he seems to be challenging her belief in him as the family's protector.
