What does kino do to himself after he is rejected by the doctor? Explain why he reacts this way?

Kino punches the iron gate and splits his knuckles. Blood flows down his hand. Kino feels frustrated and humiliated. He cannot provide medical support for his own child. Steinbeck seems to illustrate Kino as feeling emasculated in front of most of his friends and neighbours.
