what are the pros and cons for destroying the pearl ?

Selling the pearl would afford Kino a better life for his family. Keeping the pearl is dangerous...... the pearl buyers want to cheat him, the townspeople want him to share, the priest and the doctor want to use him (the doctor wants to steal from him), and others (robbers) are willing to kill the whole family.
