How does Steinback characterize the priest who comes to see kino and his family

The priest is only interested in getting money for his church and himself. He flatters Kino about his pearl being God's will for him to share it with the church. The priest actually preaches that each man should know his station in life. The subtext of what the priest says surrounds Kino not being worthy of such riches.
