Common Core Standards:
Have a debate about how to use the wealth of the pearl.
Scaffold the debate by having an initial discussion about the benefits of keeping or spreading the wealth. Come up with an arbitrary value for the pearl that would be enough to make an impact if it were to be spread throughout the community. (Consider determining the size and value of the pearl in reality either before or following the debate.)
