The Painted Veil

What is the relationship between Mr. Garstin and his daughters? Describe Mr. Garstin. Which another character in the book does he remind you of? Why?

I'm not sure how to answer this question.

Mr. Garstin was most often ignored and avoided by his daughters when they were children. He was simply the man who provided for the family. Over time, Kitty, through her relationship with the nuns, comes to see him differently and even moves with him to the Bahamas.
