Why was ponyboy upset adout getting a haircut

 Ponyboy's identity was, in part, tied to his log greaser hair. He feels he is giving up his greaser toughness and heritage by cutting his hair.   

Becasue he was sooo gay that he went into gymnastics and learned how to Stretch to the point he can cum on his own face one day he missed and cummed shoted his hair and cut it he was not reluctant to do it it wad an accident(:

Ponyboy is concerned about cutting his hair because he doesn't want to lose what symbolizes him.Cutting his hair means that he would be losing the name "greaser" because his hair technically makes him a "greaser".
