Why does Sodapop run out of the house? B) What does Ponyboy realize he and Darry have been doing to Sodapop, and how does this relate to any of the book’s themes?

Please answer separately I am referring to chapter 12.

Soda received the letter he had written Sandy unopened. Soda is devastated. Pony realizes that he and Darry never really listened to Soda and what he was struggling with. They were wrapped up in their own problems. Soda always listened but never got a chance to express himself.
