The boys begin talking about the gang. They think about Two-bit and reminisce about home. The cold empty church is a stark contrast to the warm security of home. When Ponyboy starts talking about the night before, Johnny tells him, "Stop it!" and begins to cry. Ponyboy comforts him, but starts to cry himself.
