What has been bothering Soda? Why did he run away?

Soda is under a lot of stress. His girlfriend Sandy had left for Florida. She was pregnant but the baby was not Soda's. On top of that, Pony and Darry are always fighting. They expect Soda to intervene but Soda can't take it anymore.
