Of all the characters in the novel, Cherry seems to have the most vision. She sees the big picture rather than the tunnel vision the gangs seem to be trapped into. She acknowledges the difference between the gangs, but she is all able to see beyond their differences and make note of the things that are the same. Her bluntness is charming. In one way or another, everyone has problems.
