Ponyboy learns that the Socs are people too. Cherry teaches him that they all have problems; the Socs just have different ones. Pony learns that the Socs have to deal with constant peer pressure to conform. They are expected to dress the part and act the part of being a Soc. They have parents that, like the greasers, don't always care. Pony is also impressed when Cherry says that both Greasers and Socs see the same sunset no matter what side of the tracks they live on.
