What are your reactions to Dally’s death? Do you agree with Ponyboy’s statement that he “died gallant”?

I recall being sad when Dally died. I thought it was tragic. There was nothing gallant about forcing the police to shoot him. There was more to Dally than violence. He really cared for Johnny. Dally was also a survivor. He could have done so much more with his life. I think Ponyboy was romanticizing Dally and his fate.
