Pony has had a fight with Darry. Pony runs to the park and meets up with Johnny. They discuss family issues. It is cold and dark outside. Pony suggests they take a walk to cool off before they go home. I'm not completely sure what you mean by the forshadowing. Certainly Pony is going to get allot colder when he is nearly drownrd in the fountain in chapter 4. I think the violence (Darry hits Pony out of frustration) certainly might be a harbinger of violence to come as well.
