Please discus the theme of gender in chapters 1-2. How do characters treat members of the same sex, and of opposite sex?

The only girls we really meet in the story are Cherrie and Marcia. Johnny and Ponyboy are respectful to them but Greasers like Dally like to push their buttons to get their attention.
