How and why does Ponyboy’s view of the socs change?

Ponyboy eventually sees the socs as people just like Greasers. They just have different problems. Pony sees the futility of fighting that Johnny talked about. In the end Socs want similar things that Greasers do: love, belonging, identity, family.
