ponyboy does not want to be a greaser and does not like many of the things greasers do,the rumble allows him to be proud to be a greaser

Ponyboy likes the camaraderie and sense of family that the Greasers have: Greasers tend to take care of each other. Pony does not like the fighting and delinquency that sometimes goes with being a Greaser.
