Dally is rude in his own playful way to the girls. He offends them to get attention. Pony and Johnny are polite and nervous around the girls. The girls find Dally offensive and aggressive while they find Pony and Johnny to be quiet and thoughtful. There is a sense that Cherry finds Pony to be intriguing for a Greaser but still very much a boy.
