Ponyboy is no longer willing to be a victim. A car full of Socs pulls up and they accuse him of killing Bob Sheldon: they threaten to settle the score.. Pony is no longer afraid of them. He picks up a bottle and breaks it. He threatens them with it saying,"You get back into your car or you'll get split." The Socs drive away.
