Chapter 8 : How did Johnny felt about dying?

When Johnny and Ponyboy are alone, Johnny asks, "I'm pretty bad off, ain't I, Pony?" Ponyboy tries to reassure him that he'll be okay. Johnny says that he knows he won't be able to walk again, and confesses that he's scared. He doesn't want to die at only sixteen years old. There is so much left that he has not seen.
