Chapter 12.what does pony picking up the broken glass indicate about him?

A car full of Socs pulls up, but Ponyboy doesn't feel scared: he feels numb because of everything that has happened. The Socs accuse Pony of killing Bob but Pony breaks off the end of his bottle and says, "You get back into your car or you'll get split." I think that Pony has gotten to the point where the fear has subsided. He has lost so much that challenging the Socs is not a problem anymore.
