How does ponyboys conversation with cherry show that in his head he realizes everyone is the same ( socs and greasers ) but his heart is still having a hard time with it?

I think Ponyboy understands that the Socs might have their own "troubles" but all Ponyboy has seen is entitled kids who have everything and who harass Greasers.
