Hemingway was a journalist. You can tell this in his writing style because he uses minimal words to convey some pretty rich imagery. His writing is direct keeping adjectives to a minimum and avoiding "dressing" like cliches. THe result is a poetic piece that is rich with imagery. The writing is , like Santiago, stoic and resilient. It is a piece created by a unique artist and craftsman never to be duplicated again by anyone else.
