The Old Man and the Sea

. Around page 45 Santiago reminds himself to eat and sleep. Based on his hesitation to do both on land, whose voice do you conclude he is hearing? Prove it.

I would say that Santiago misses the boy Manolin. I might not go as far as to say he was hearing his voice, but the boy was always a calming influence on the old man. Manolin was Santiago's only confidant and friend. He tried to limit the old man from exhausting himself.
