we came to the coastline of the lotus eaters, who live upon that flower. We landed there to take on water. All ships companies mustered alongside for the midday meal.

The sailors eat the lotus plant and like the feeling they get. They refuse to go back to the boat. Odysseus is angry at their mutiny. Odysseus basically ties the men on the boat, problem solved!
