Ulysses doesn't want people to see that he is a big cry baby hence the feeling Aidos (feeling of reverence or shame)

"Thus sang the bard, but Ulysses drew his purple mantle over his head and covered his face, for he was ashamed to let the Phaeacians see that he was weeping."

Aidos was actually the Greek goddess of shame, modesty, and humility but it could also be seen as a feeling.
