The Odyssey has timeless themes and touches on issues that remain relevant throughout many generations. The theme of coming of age, as an example is addressed very well in the book and is relevant to all who read it. I studied the Odyssey a few years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it, and have also really been enjoying it as an audio book (I got it off http://www.audiobooks.net) - it's so much more convenient.
