The Necklace

The first four paragraphs

The first four paragraphs start with “She.” Why do you think the author did that in relation to Point of View? Which of the three points of view do you think this story is told in, and how is it related to starting all of those paragraphs with “She”?

The point of view of this story is that of a third person omniscient. The narrator frames the story almost like a morality tale which it is. The pronoun "she" is used to broaden the perspective around Mathilde. "She" could really be any woman who feels like Mathilde: any woman who wants more than she has.
