I recall this line from Hamlet but I suppose this fits right in with the Necklace. Mathilde Loisel borrowed a rich looking necklace from Madam Forestier. Mathilde looses the necklace, which changes the course of her life and for the life of her husband. Mathilde would have been much better off not borrowing the necklace.
