I think the phrase "typical woman" is problematic to begin with. Really you are asking for a stereotype of women which isn't realistic. I don't think Mathilde represents all women any more than one character can represent all men. Sure Mathilde likes the finer things in life like jewelry and wishes her lot in life had more money and prestige, but these traits aren't exclusive to her gender.
