When we first meet Madame Loisel, she is resentful of her social class and believes that she is entitled to more.... that she was born for more than a middle class life. Over the next ten years, Madame Loisel learns what it really means to be poor, to have to work long hours just to get by, and she changes drastically...... both mentally and physically.
